Obtaining More of Less

People get bored with the things they like and get tired of the same thing repeating itself and monotony. This is something that economists should have in mind when they study how people decide to spend their money.

For example, if you have not eaten tacos in a long time, you will probably get a lot of utility by eating one or two. The pico de gallo, avocado, cheese etc are a few things that will most definitely make you very content.

The enthusiasm a person would feel by eating a taco will become a little bit more moderate when he or she decides to eat a second one which will still be very delicious, but not as much as the first one; then if the person decides to eat a third one, it will not be as delicious as the second and so forth. If the person were to continue eating and eating, the extra food would just end up making that person sick and disgusted and would probably cause serious stomach pain as well instead of pleasure.

This phenomenon though should not only be applied to food, it can be applied to almost everything. Unless a person has an addiction to something, the natural thing is to get tired of it as you get more of it and each additional unit provides with less happiness then the one before.
